CAMPAIGN AGAINST LIVING MISERABLY AND DOVETAIL TEAM UP TO SMASH THE STIGMA AROUND SUICIDE IN THE UK

  • Dovetail extends partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to Unite against Suicide

  • The partnership includes in-game activity, staff fundraising and customer engagement

  • One in four people in the UK will have suicidal thoughts at some point in their life, proving the need to highlight this urgent issue to the gaming community

London, September 24 2025: Suicide prevention charity, the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and developer and publisher Dovetail Games have today announced they will be continuing their partnership to unite against suicide in the UK and raise funds for CALM’s life-saving work.

Tragically, data shows that one in four people will have suicidal thoughts in their lifetime, with someone dying by suicide every 90 minutes on average in the UK. But suicide can be prevented with the right support and interventions. One of those tools is talking about suicide to smash the stigma silencing people’s struggles and preventing people from seeking help.

This partnership is breaking the stigma by educating and empowering people to start life-saving conversations about suicide and mental health, through in game messaging and prompts. From it’s launch on September 30th, Train Sim World 6 will proudly display CALM posters, prompting conversations around suicide and giving easy access to lifesaving services. We’re taking the urgent issue of suicide prevention to the gaming world, aiming to  reach as many people from their much-loved simulation titles such as Train Sim World and Train Simulator Classic, and wider community activities like Humble Bundle.

Michael Jarvis, CALM’s Digital Partnerships Lead:

“Teaming up with Dovetail again is something we’re incredibly proud of. We’re so grateful for their support over the last year, which raised enough money to fund over 1,200 calls to our helpline. Huge. This is a powerful way to break the silence around suicide and bring support directly to their community.

At CALM, we’re all about sparking hope and helping people to stay. With Dovetail's help, we can make sure that people who are struggling know about our life-saving services and that services like our helpline can continue to be a lifeline for those who need it most.”

Gemma Brown and Rob O'Farrell, co-CEOs of Dovetail Games

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with CALM and to stand alongside them in their vital work against suicide. At Dovetail Games, mental health is something we approach with intent. We know that life throws challenges at all of us, and there are times when people need support. That’s why we’ve taken deliberate steps to create a culture where our teams feel they can speak up, ask for help, and know they’ll be heard.

This commitment runs through the way we lead, the benefits and resources we provide, and the actions we take – from training managers and Mental Health First Aiders to making sure wellbeing is actively supported across the business. As a senior leadership team, we also lead by example, sharing openly when we’re struggling ourselves, to show that it’s okay to not be okay.

Extending this approach into our games gives us the chance to reach millions of players with a message that matters. Train Sim World 6 will display CALM’s life-saving resources in-game, sparking important conversations and helping players know that they are never alone. Together with CALM, we want to break the silence around suicide, reduce stigma, and encourage more of the life-saving conversations that can make all the difference.”
