HR Manager (Maternity Cover)

Our people can be based “where they do their best work” from either our HQ, a river front office in the Historic Dockyard Chatham, or from their home. However occasional travel to HQ office will be required for key meetings and events.

We are looking for a HR Manager, to lead the HR and recruitment team and support the Director of HR.   This position will be a 9 month fixed term contract covering maternity.


  • Managing the HR, Recruitment and Facilities team
  • Provide pro-active support to business leadership and people managers on HR issues, such as employee relations, talent, performance, organisation development/change, culture, leadership and L&D
  • Full ER cover from start to finish covering – performance, disciplinary, grievance/disputes, sickness absence, family leave
  • Support the annual and quarterly pay review processes
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date and in line with employment law/ Design and implement HR strategy and policy, in line with business objectives and employment law
  • Oversee monthly payroll processing – including liaising with payroll provider and Finance team to manage any queries or issues that arise
  • Provide both regular and ad-hoc HR analysis and data reports in order to monitor business performance against the people strategy and make recommendations for policy changes, etc. as necessary
  • Managing the HR budget
  • Building effective relationships across the organisation and ensure that a timely and responsible HR service is delivered that meets the needs of all stakeholders
  • Maintaining a positive work culture in line with the values of the business
  • Manage company benefit schemes and provide advice to stakeholders as required

What We Look For In You

  • Comprehensive experience working in HR
  • Experience managing a team
  • CIPD qualification, desirable
